Missing Characters.
New computer, haven't played Guild Wars in over a year and I re download everything and log on. And notice I only have 2 characters out of the 8 I had. I don't have screen shots anymore and don't remember any of my other character names. I'm pretty sure I didn't delete them.
Also is there a way to download EVERYTHING? Just loading Rata Sam is taking forever. Or will I have to go to every town and load everything that way.

You were likely hacked, and had many characters deleted. At least it sounds like that.

I thought that too, but everything I had on my two main characters were intact. Nothing taken, and the money I've been saving up is still there.

total guess here
What happens if you have all the games and have a spread of characters across all three.
Then you do a reinstall and for instance just install prophesies, would all the characters show up.
Other than being hacked or forgetting you deleted the characters I couldn't come up with anything else as an explanation.

But you can't just install one out of the three, can you? I would think you'd have to install all three at the same time.

Well, a friend remembered one of my other characters names and when I made a new char the name was available so I guess my other characters got deleted. I don't know what I lost on my other characters but it's not really that big of a deal I guess. Thank you.

Yes when you install you effectively install the entire game system, my thought was what if you had codes for each game and just entered one.
Would the game show fewer character slots and ignore characters from other games.
After a rethink I abandon the idea, as your entering your account name and password so the game would realise what content you own as everything is added to the original account.
If the other characters do not show then they were deleted by someone.

I`ll use 2 examples here.
Mr A has bought the complete set of gw and is doing a "new install" - he would have to enter the serial codes once.
Mr B hasnt played for a few yrs and has a new pc - all he needs do is install the game .
The difference between the 2 is - when you install for first time ever you have no set chrs and all empty slots plus having to insert the codes , but if you installed say a yr ago you will be able to login.
Same way as if you went to a friends and logged into your account from his pc.
All chr info and storage info etc etc is held on the servers not you users pc.
Ive used 2 diff pcs over the last 5 yrs and only once have i done a complete re-install , rest of time i just use a backup of my gw folder if ive had to wipe a hd or other probs.

Have had much the same experience 2 PCs and used a backup dat file to move the game to a new pc.
I realise now I was typing rubbish but at the time it seemed a possible solution to the disappearing characters, no matter the op is happy and back playing the game.
